Lab tested for Longevity

We here at GarageSkins, Inc. have always been committed to providing a quality, real-wood product to enhance the exterior of your home. Our mission has always been to exactly simulate the look of a high-end real wood garage door, and all

of our development has focused on that end goal.

We know that placing real wood on the exterior of your garage door has the potential weather and crack, and we have gone to great efforts to select a wood stabilization process that not only will keep the systems looking great for years to come, but also provide a maintenance-free finish so that you can just enjoy the look without having to re-stain and re-finish

the GarageSkins system every couple of years.

While all of our in-house testing shows that we have gotten it right in our selection and application of finishes and adhesives, we wanted to ensure that whatever conditions are thrown at our systems they will last and keep on lasting. To validate our processes, we engaged Oregon State University’s Wood Innovations Lab (WIC) to run three separate environmental stress tests.

OSU’s WIC is the go-to testing lab for companies such as Georgia Pacific, Jeld-Wen, and other manufacturers that produce exterior wood products. They have specialized environmental chambers that can simulate the harshest conditions, in a rapid enough cycle that in a month-long test, which just concluded in June 2022, we could reasonably simulate 1 year’s exposure to south Florida conditions. This is a known standard as that climate has proven to be the harshest in the US for exterior wood products.

We are happy that this test has confirmed what we already knew, that our stabilized wood and high-end stains, coupled with a UV-blocking finish, will allow your new GarageSkins system to weather nicely without any significant

visual degradation or color fading over the years.
